Working Together

Is this the right partnership for you?

We bring close attention, honest guidance, and responsibility for the work we agree to do. You bring your experience, your participation, and a willingness to invest in your speaking over time. Together, we build a working relationship with clear expectations and room for thoughtful decisions.

What makes a strong fit

You have something substantive to share: professional expertise, a body of work, a distinctive point of view, or lived experience with clear value for an audience.

You want a partner who learns your work and stays involved. You are open to feedback, responsive when decisions need your attention, and willing to prepare and keep your materials current.

You have room in your budget for the monthly service without depending on an immediate booking. You value steady development and relationship building, and are prepared to participate in that work.

You do not have to love promoting yourself.

Many people feel much more comfortable sharing their ideas than asking someone to book them.

We work with you on how to communicate your value and take responsibility for organizer conversations. You stay involved in your message, your goals, and the engagements you accept.

Questions about working together

What does it cost?

You pay one monthly fee based on the support you need. Speaker development: $3,000/month. Ongoing representation: $3,500/month. If you begin with speaker development, your monthly fee changes to the representation rate when you are ready to make that transition. You are never charged for both services at the same time. No commission. No long-term commitment. Cancel anytime.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no long-term commitment. You remain free to decide whether the partnership continues.

How does a long-term approach fit with a monthly service?

We plan for the relationships and opportunities that support your speaking over years. You choose whether to continue each month. Regular conversations about progress and priorities help you assess whether the partnership is serving your goals. There is no requirement to buy a year or commit to a set number of months.

Will I work directly with Cheryl and Philip?

Yes. Philip leads development, and Cheryl leads representation. Cheryl joins a monthly strategy and readiness conversation during development. During representation, she stays in direct contact with you, and Philip contributes strategic input within your agreed service.

Where do we begin, and how do we move between stages?

We review your goals, presentation, experience, and materials. Prepared speakers begin with representation. When focused development is needed, we start there. We confirm readiness, availability, and scope together before the transition. You pay one monthly fee based on the support you need. Speaker development is $3,000/month, and ongoing representation is $3,500/month. If you begin with speaker development, your monthly fee changes to the representation rate when you are ready to make that transition. You are never charged for both services at the same time.

What does development include, and how long does it take?

Development includes four sessions with Philip per month, agreed feedback between meetings, and one monthly strategy conversation with Cheryl. We work on your point of view, audience value, and principal presentation. When substantial work is needed, we plan approximately two to three months and review progress. That is an estimate, not a required commitment.

What does Cheryl handle during representation?

Audience strategy, opportunity research, organizer relationships, outreach, follow-up, fee conversations within your approved parameters, booking confirmation, scheduling, and engagement coordination. You retain final approval of engagements.

What decisions remain mine?

You approve your message, published profile materials, fee parameters, and the engagements you accept. Cheryl manages the agreed outreach and arrangements, explains her recommendations, and brings decisions to you when your input is needed. Your career and your choice to continue remain yours.

Will I have my own speaker profile page?

Yes. Your monthly service includes a full speaker profile on the Cheryl Janis Agency website, with your biography, topics, audience information, available media, and an inquiry pathway. We prepare the page for search discovery, publish from approved materials, and keep it current during the partnership. Search placement and incoming inquiries are not guaranteed.

Do I need a separate website and a finished speaker reel?

We assess what you have and identify what organizers need to understand your presentation. Your agency profile is included, and a separate website is not automatically necessary. Additional filming, editing, a separate personal website, or substantial design is scoped separately.

Do you support speaking for referrals and professional relationships?

Yes. Some clients use speaking to strengthen professional relationships and support referrals; others pursue speaking fees. We agree on the audiences and opportunities that fit your goals. We also offer focused support for lawyers.

Is CLE administration included?

When it is specified in your agreement. We define the filing and coordination responsibilities, the relevant requirements, and any additional costs before beginning.

What will I hear from you each month?

We review what has progressed, the relationships and opportunities in motion, what we have learned, and the next priorities. You also hear from us as decisions arise. We agree on a meeting rhythm and communication expectations before beginning.

How do you use AI?

We use AI as a tool to support our work. You work directly with Cheryl and Philip. We learn your message, make the strategic judgments, conduct organizer conversations, and take responsibility for the work we agree to do. You know who is involved and who to turn to.

How soon should I expect speaking engagements?

Timing depends on your readiness, audiences, event schedules, and organizer response. Some conversations move quickly; others develop over months. We do not guarantee bookings, income, fees, or timing. We keep you informed about the work and what it is telling us.

What happens when I get in touch?

Tell us about your work, the audiences you want to reach, and the support you are looking for. We use that starting point to discuss fit and the appropriate stage of service. Before any paid work begins, we agree on the scope, monthly fee, meeting rhythm, and communication. An inquiry does not commit you to a service.

Let's talk about your speaking.

Tell us about your message, the audiences you have in mind, and the support you are looking for. We would like to understand what you want to build and whether we are the right people to help.
