Why this voice matters now
The hardest part of legal practice is not always the law.
Attorneys routinely work with people experiencing fear, anger, uncertainty, shame, conflict, and extraordinary pressure. Those emotional realities can shape communication, decision-making, trust, and ultimately the course of a case.
Josh Baron brings nearly two decades of criminal defense experience to one of the legal profession’s most common—and least openly discussed—challenges: working effectively with difficult clients in high-stress situations.
His teaching combines real case experience with relationship science to give attorneys practical tools for recognizing destructive patterns, reducing escalation, communicating more effectively, and maintaining professionalism without emotional detachment or burnout.
A Favorite Quote
“We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.”
